Sharpening
This group contains filters that enhance the edges of objects and adjust contrast and shading characteristics.
- Deblur2d: Enhances contrast and removes blur from a two-dimensional image.
- Delineate2d: Enhances contrast of a two-dimensional image.
- Delineate3d: Enhances contrast of a three-dimensional image.
- UnsharpMasking2d: Sharpens edges on the elements of a two-dimensional image without increasing noise.
- UnsharpMasking3d: Sharpens edges on the elements of a two-dimensional image without increasing noise.
- Shade2d: Provides a shadowing effect on a grayscale image.
The high-pass filters used to sharpen an image let high frequencies go through and filter out
low frequencies. They enhance object edges in the image, but are generally very sensitive to noise.
A high-pass filter is a convolution with kernels of positive and negative coefficients. The output image is a linear combination of the Laplacian and the original image. Because the result of this convolution is a linear combination of the original image and the Laplacian, which detects contours, a contrast enhancement is obtained.
